Preamble: The Australia standard AS2293:2005 outlines most requirements for a emergency product, such as the battery requirements, connection and discharge requirements etc, by referencing this most requirements that the specification needs are identified


This specification has been broken into sections which you can copy and paste into your document depending on which product you are specifying


Step 1: Standard specification

Emergency and exit lighting luminaries shall:

  • Comply to the requirements of an Emergency Luminaire set out in AS2293:2005.
  • Incorporate removable, rechargeable battery pack(s) which comply to the requirements of AS2293:2005.
  • Shall have a dual rate, constant current battery charger suitable for the battery type.
  • Shall incorporate a switch mode power supply.
  • Shall have a minimum photometric classification of C0:E2.5 and C90:E2.0.
  • Shall be supplied with high temperature Nickel Metal Hydride batteries.
  • Shall have tamper proof, vandal resistant decals.
  • Shall be wall or ceiling mountable, with single and double sided diffusers.
  • Shall be a exit luminaire equal to the Maco Mercury.

 

Step 2: Choose the Control options

For a standalone system  
  • Shall operate as a self contained emergency light.
For a self test system Why choose a Self test product?
  • Shall be able to perform a discharge test periodically without interaction.
  • Shall indicate the results of the tests through a series of flashes on the charge LED.
For a DALI system Why choose a DALI monitored System?
  • Shall be compatible with the DALI control protocol

Step 3: Choose the Lamp Options

For traditional lamp (maintained)  
  • The lamp source shall be a 8 watt mini T5 florescent lamp, in a maintained configuration
For traditional lamp (Sustained)  
  • The lamp source shall be 2x8 watt mini T5 florescent lamps, in a sustained configuration
For CCFL Lamp source Why choose a CCFL Light Source?
  • The lamp source shall be a 4W cold cathode florescent lamp
